Diwali - A festival of Lights

Diwali is my favourite festival because I can do many fun things for many days .
Before Diwali I go Shopping with my mother for clothes , sweets, crackers and
many more things .
My mother cooks lots of sweets I like Laddus , gulab jamun and shankarpali the most .

My mother tells me Diwali is the celebration for the victory of Good over Evil .It is also called the Festival of Lights . We lit many diyas in our house . I also paint some diyas and make them more beautiful . My favourite is the Akashkandil and the colourful lights we put in our terrace .Our house looks very beautiful in the night with all the lights . We also draw rangoli to make our house more beautiful and colourful.

Many guests come to our home during Diwali. They get lots of gifts and chocolates for me and my sister .I like to burst crackers with my cousins and friends . My parents tell me to be very careful while bursting crackers, sparklers, flower pots and rockets are my favourite . I like to watch crackers in the sky . They look like
colourful glitters.

Please come to my house on Diwali!

Diwali is one of the most celebrated festivals in Hindus. It is the festival of light colors and firework. It is a time for great joy and fun .it is celebrated to mark the victory of Rama over Ravan and his return to Ayodhya after 14 years of exile. We light diyas and candles and keep them on the windows and near the door. We also make rangoli with different colors and put decorated lighted lantern with the words ‘HAPPY DIWALI’ written on it. We wear new clothes and visit our friends and relatives and they visit us. Sweets are made and distributed.

On the eve of diwali we burst fire crackers at night. the next day is spent going to the temple. Diwali lasts for 5 days .diwali is celebrated in every nook and corner of the country with great enthusiasm.Diwali is celebrated for thousands of years and everyone love this festival.
