Christmas

Christmas is always a magical time of the year for me. The beautifully decorated shopping malls, with toys everywhere you see, always fascinate me. And the houses with their lights glow upon the glistening snow at night, always seems to calm me. In my childhood I loved to decorate the Christmas tree and fall asleep near the fire place. I knew that SANTA CLAUSE would soon be there and that was the best part of it all. As a child these things enchanted me. Sure the presents were great, but the excitement and the mystery of Christmas; I loved most of all. Believing that there was real Santa and waking up the Christmas mornings and realizing he’d come, as my sleepy eyes focused on all the fancily wrapped presents before me.

Ah, to be a child again. How wonderful it would be to reveal the magic of Christmas. Don’t get me wrong, I have always been a kid at heart and a true lover of CHRISTMAS.

The festivity begins on the Christmas Eve with card singing. It is a week long festival.

On the final day, there is a mid-night mass followed by ringing of the bells ushering in the New Year. They make Christmas cakes. It is a festival of feasting, rejoicing and exchanging gifts . All the school remain closed for a week long Christmas vacation. I enjoy this holiday as my Half Yearly Exams gets over just before it. I make greeting cards on this occasion and mail them to my friends and relatives .On this day, I wish everyone “Merry Christmas”. When I was young  I used to believe that Santa Claus will come with gifts. Now that I have grown up ,but I still churish the idea of exchanging gifts .

Overall, Christmas imparts a feeling of unity and joy in everyone’s heart.

Christmas is a festival celebrated by Christians, but because Christmas brings so much joy and happiness, it has become a universal festival. It is celebrated on 25th December, which is the birthday of JESUS CHRIST. People go to churches dressed in new clothes. They have a big Christmas tree in their houses with decorations like streamers, stars and hangings. Gifts are bought for friends and families, who normally gather together for a grand dinner. Christmas cake is made and wine and cake is served to all who come visiting. In church, Christmas carols are sung and the priest says the prayer. Cards are sent to friends all over the world to wish them happiness and good luck. Children hang old stockings outside the fire places for the Santa to come and give them lovely gifts. Do you know who really puts the gifts there? Take a guess…..
